Southern California Jewish Student Services runs several events throughout the year, as well as partnering with other organizations to put on other events.
SoCal Area Hillel Leadership Gathering – January 2011 & August 2010
Bringing together student leaders from Long Beach, Orange County, and the Inland Empire involved in their respective campus Hillel groups, the area-wide leadership gatherings were held at the beginning of each semester of the 2010-2011 school year for students to network as well as to work on being enriched through sessions to bring back to their Hillels.
Torah Winter Learning Event – January 2011
Having found many students looking for opportunities to spend time engaging with classical Jewish texts and Jewish tradition, the first ever Torah Winter Learning Event was held during the winter break in January 2011 on the topic of the Ten Commandments.
Tikkun Olam Institute: Fixing the World Through a Jewish Perspective – June 2011
An opportunity to engage in both actively helping the world and in discussing it rooted in classical Jewish sources, the inaugural Tikkun Olam Institute was held in June 2011 over a few days for students (in high school, college, and grad school) and other young adults in Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Israel Activism Seminar – September 2010
Held at the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic year, SoCalJSS held a day-long event for students in Long Beach and Orange County on Israel activism, bringing together students from a few different schools to work to deal with anti-Israel activity on their campuses.
Camp Jewlicious – August 2010
One of the co-sponsors of the inaugural Camp Jewlicious, SoCalJSS helped make the first such event a success.
Jewlicious Festival – February 2005-2011
One of the original partners in starting and continuing to be involved with the Jewlicious Festival along with Jewlicious.com & Beach Hillel, SoCalJSS has co-produced the Jewlicious Festival for all seven years of its operation.
